Nenu Emerges From Stealth With the First Personal AI Vault, Giving Consumers Control Over What AI Knows About Them

Founded by Yodlee co-founder Schwark Satyavolu and Yodlee Alum Vivin Ramamurthy, Nenu ends the tedious ritual of manually re-explaining oneself to every new AI tool – keeping personal data truly secure

PALO ALTO, Calif. — Sept. 15, 2026 — Nenu today announced it is officially emerging from stealth with $12 million in seed funding from Bessemer Ventures, WillowTree Ventures, and current and former AI leaders from OpenAI, Apple, Google, Arm, and Anthropic. At the core of this launch is Nenu’s personal AI vault, which instantly understands users and their preferences – ending one of the most tedious rituals, manually reiterating personal information to every new assistant, so every AI finally works for them, without compromising their privacy or control.

AI companies already hold massive amounts of data about their users, but that data rarely makes life easier. Every new AI tool and topic requires people to re-explain themselves – whether it’s a travel preference or something more personal, like a health condition, a fitness goal or family need. Nenu was created to close that gap. With Nenu, users can choose to securely share their personal preferences with the services they already use, while keeping their data portable, private, and protected. The Nenu Vault enables services to deliver more relevant, personalized recommendations, saving people time, and making everyday decisions a little easier.

Until now, consumers have had little control over their own data. Most AI platforms follow the same playbook as the rest of big tech – collect as much data as possible, then use it to sell products, ads or train models, often with little transparency into how that data is used. In an AI world, where the depth of information shared by consumers is far greater, the stakes of that playbook are significantly higher. Nenu flips the model, returning control to individuals.

“AI assistants have fundamentally changed search and discoverability, but users often don’t realize how much personal information they’re handing over. Rather than requiring users to repeatedly share their personal data to individual AI assistants and service providers, Nenu creates a new model for permissioned personalization. We give users control back, allowing them to choose how their data is shared, and powering truly personalized experiences, without compromising their privacy.”

Schwark Satyavolu, co-founder and CEO of Nenu

Nenu is initially focused on bringing this personalization layer to leading frontier AI models and assistants, with a broader vision to become the underlying personalization infrastructure powering everyday digital services. Users securely connect their email and everyday apps and services to the Nenu Vault just once, allowing Nenu to automatically build and continuously update a private, portable profile of their preferences, history, and habits. That context can then be shared with leading AI models including ChatGPT, Claude, Grok, Gemini, and Nenu’s own meGPT — turning generic AI into experiences that are more personalized, relevant, and useful, while saving users time and reducing repetitive explanations.

“The Nenu founders offer a completely new vision on how to make AI useful. Today, AI can give you real-world knowledge but not personalized recommendations because it requires broad access to personal data. Nenu brokers access with truly secure technology that defends user data privacy.”

Nenu was founded by Yodlee co-founder Schwark Satyavolu and early Yodlee alum Vivin Ramamurthy, who together spent decades building one of the first trusted data platforms at scale. Now they’re applying that same rigor – turning fragmented data into something useful – to AI.

The funding will be used to grow Nenu’s team and scale the product to meet growing enterprise demand, as more consumers turn to AI agents rather than individual apps and websites. Nenu and MeGPT are currently available to users via a beta release. To gain early access to Nenu, visit nenu.co.
